Getting started

ContextSnap follows one simple loop:

Capture → Collect → Organize → Copy → Paste

You capture pieces of a page, they collect in one temporary tray, you put them in the order you want, copy them, and paste them wherever you work.

Capture text

1. Open ContextSnap once on the page — this enables text capture for that page.
2. Highlight the text you want.
3. Click the small Capture pill that appears next to your selection.

Prefer the keyboard? Hold Alt while selecting text and the capture happens immediately, with no pill click.

Capture visible screen

Captures the browser viewport exactly as it appears right now — whatever is visible on screen, nothing above or below it.

Capture area

Click Capture Area, then click and drag a rectangle around the part of the visible page you want and release. Press Esc to cancel — nothing is saved.

Capture full page

ContextSnap scrolls the page and stitches the sections into one continuous image, then returns the page to where you left it. Do not scroll manually while it runs.

Extremely long, dynamic, infinite-scrolling, protected, or otherwise unusual pages may have capture limitations. ContextSnap stops safely and tells you rather than producing a broken image — use Capture Area or Capture Visible Screen on those pages.

Session tray

Captured items appear in the tray in the order you captured them.

• Reorder items by dragging them or using the up and down controls.
• Delete a single item with the ✕ button; its stored image is removed too.
• Copy copies that one text capture.
• Copy Image copies that one screenshot, area, or full-page capture as an image.
• Copy Context combines all text captures, in order, with their source title and link.
• Clear Session removes everything. This cannot be undone.

Copy Context combines captured text. Images remain separate and use Copy Image.

Using ContextSnap with other applications

ContextSnap puts your captures on the clipboard. From there you paste them yourself with Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on Mac) into any clipboard-compatible destination — AI chat interfaces, Microsoft Word, Google Docs, email, notes apps, and more. Text pastes anywhere; images paste into destinations that accept images.

ContextSnap does not connect to, integrate with, or partner with any of those services.

Troubleshooting

• Protected browser pages — such as browser settings pages and the extension store — cannot be captured. This is a browser security rule. Try a normal webpage.
• Some webpages interfere with text selection, so the Capture pill may not appear. Open ContextSnap on the page and highlight again, or use Capture Area instead.
• Full Page Capture has safety limits on page length and number of sections, and stops rather than producing a broken image.
• If a newly installed development build is not responding, reload the extension on the extensions page and reload the webpage, then try again.
• Captures are temporary and are not designed to survive a browser restart. Paste anything you want to keep somewhere permanent.
